Artwork description: This piece is a split self portrait, in which Cameron reflects on feelings of fragmentation within their own body when growing up. This is visualised through two bodies existing within a single heart, nurtured and held by an incubator machine embedded in the soil that the artist grew up on and that offered fertile grounds for their growth. Despite the sense of splintering, the heart remains whole and the same blood flows within it. This sense of wholeness and interconnectedness is further explored through the presence of water, which is feeding the incubator. Water, in a material sense, is always the same molecule, and we all need it, regardless of where we are. Even when tracing back the origins of water, back to its provenance from the stars, it all comes from a single source. Water also acts as a symbol for memories and energies from the past, all getting transferred to the being fostered within the incubator. This work serves as a reminder that completeness persists even when one feels divided.
